Emergency Transmitter
Type T-74A/CRT-3(SCR-578)

This unit, known as the 'Gibson Girl', was used in a rubber dinghy to transmit SOS messages on the international
Distress Frequency of 500kc/s. Its aerial wire was hoisted aloft by kite or balloon.

It sent Modulated CW (Morse) transmissions, or a signalling lamp could be keyed either manually or automatically.

Power was supplied by a hand-cranked dual voltage (28V/330V) generator.
